Lace bite gel pad review
I purchased new skates and was having lace bite issues, so PH recommended the gel pads and they work great! Only issue is that they don't stick well to the tongue padding. So be careful not to drop them and lose them. JS
Gel Pads saved my feet
Perfect solution, good price, needed this to solve lace bite
Helps but doesn’t last
Doesn’t stick - you have reapply each skate. I almost lost it a million times. After wearing it under 10 times the sticky part is essentially gone.
Get the version with Velcro instead
I skate out and goalie. I have a similar version of this which is attached with Velcro. That version has been on my right skates for over a year and now need them for my left. Honestly thought that's what I was purchasing again but this version is just a sticker. It barely stuck on my skate when warm and dry. Immediately fell off after the first skate. Avoid this version, find… read more the kind with Velcro attachment.
These Helped Me - A LOT
I have been using these for a year and a half now. For better or worse, I tighten my skates about as tight as I can get them around the ankle. I used to wear my shin guard inside of my skate tongue, which kind of folds it over and it was causing horrible skate bite. I was desperate for a solution and a guy in the pro shop at the rink sold me these, as well as recommended that I… read more wear my knee pads outside my skate (which I started doing). They helped 100% and allowed the bone to heal. I have never had ANY issue with them peeling off of the tongue. I have CCMs, so maybe the felt in different brands has different properties that cause some not to stick. I think I would have a hard time pulling these off of the felt if I wanted to. Anyway, I was coming into Purehockey to buy another pair to keep as back-up, so thought I would write a review once I saw the negative reviews that had been posted.
Not great
Only minimally added some cushion. I was skeptical also about the pads sticking to the felt well for a long time, but assumed these wouldn’t be for sale if they didn’t stick.....I was right, they fell off after first use, after following directions. Now I just stuff them in before I finish lacing up. Not worth $10 in my opinion.
Falls right off, doesn't stick, kinda sucks
I had problems with lace bite but this did almost nothing to help. Its supposed to stick to the inside of your skate tongue but its not really an adhesive surface to start with. The socks with built in gel pads were what worked for me.
No bite
Takes the bite out. I like to tie my skates very tight and these pads ensure there is no pinching
