Surprisingly warm despite light weight; vastly superior to Bauer midweight warmup jacket.
At first glance this jacket may appear similar to the ubiquitous mid-weight Bauer warm-up jacket, worn by many ice hockey players and coaches. However, this heavyweight jacket is a vastly better jacket, with lightweight insulation that provides warmth even in cold, windy winter conditions. The detachable hood provides additional protection on particularly cold days or in the event… read more of precipitation. The mid-weight jacket, by contrast is only appropriate in the rink and only mildly chilly days down to ~ 50 degrees. The irony is that the "heavyweight" jacket is extremely light, as compared to a typical winter parka. It is only slightly heavier than the Bauer midweight jacket, despite providing vastly better comfort and warmth.

This is a very nice jacket. My only real complaint is I expected it to be a little thicker and warmer.
