Brittle blades

Our peewee blocked a shot with his skate and the right blade snapped in half like a piece of plywood against a Bruce Lee punch. We purchased the Vapor 1X skate (which is a fantastic boot) expecting the steel to be of similar quality. Not the case. Terrible quality

Ive gone through 4 pairs in a little under a year. They feel great and the extra height is very noticeable. But, 4 broken blades is unacceptable for a blade worth over 120 CAD. Would recommend a pair of step steel if you can get your hands on a pair. Had mine for 9 months and almost have to buy a new pair because of how many times I've sharpened them (shoutout to their much longer… read more lifespan, i get my blades done pretty much once a week)

Garbage

Bought new skates with this steel and after using them 5 times they snapped in half. I am not sure how this happened in beer league. I imagine anyone playing at a high level has to get new steel everytime they block a shot or pass. Don't waste any time or money on these.

Don't buy these

Honestly, Bauer is brutal. I really love their skates but the steel is awful. The fact that they put a patent on their runners so other companies like step steel couldn't produce a steal for them is preposterous. They already have enough patents, couldn't they just give us this one. Seriously considering changing to ccm's because of this

Terrible steel, DO NOT BUY!

It's rare to break a blade (especially in beer league hockey) - but I'm replacing the steel on my Bauer Vapor X500's for a 3rd time in a year and a half (with a better runner.) I'm not sure what the issue is, but these break way too easily.

Broke after 5 uses

I was breaking these skates in and I took a hard pass that broke my blade. Never seen it happen in the 20 years I've been playing. Poor steel. Weighing options on different runners/selling skates at the moment.

Great skates, but mounted with a couple of expensive, poor quality butter knives...

In only the 8th time wearing the skates, took a shot off my foot and the blade cracked in two. Mind you, this is beer league hockey and it wasn't even much of a shot. For the price of the skate/blades, would hope they would last a little longer. And appears I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.

Not Great

This steel holds an edge weel and is good steel when it comes to the way it cuts and such BUT it is softer than I expected and paid for. I will be moving to the LS3s now. I play 17U hockey at AA and I took a hard pass off the skate at practice, something I had done MANY times before and the blade snapped in two. Not impressed.

Bauer LS4 Steel

Son broke pair of LS4 steel after only 6 skates. Both blades cracked. Second pair that has cracked on him in 4 weeks. Please tell me this isn't the best Bauer can produce?
