2 sets 2 broken blades
This was our 2nd set for a blade to break. 1st set was 9 months old but due to covid had only been used a handful of times. Broke into 4 pieces. Ordered a new set thinking it was hopefully a fluke. New set blade broke after 3 weeks of games and practices. Broke in the same area. Steel is visibly thinner at the brake.
Skating on these made me happy my original blade broke
Smooth as silk, edging with confidence - cool look, too! Would buy these again, might even have replaced factory blades with these right from start
12U prefers over Step Steel
Son plays AA-AAA and likes these over the Step Steel blades. No issues with the carbon coating and we use a leather strop to deburr them after a couple passes with the Sparx 3/8 Fire Ring. Probably not necessary for your average skater but if they put in the extra work, reward them.
12U prefers to Step Steel
We up-cycled from the LS3 blades and he prefers these to the more expensive Step Steel option we found as a back up set. We use them with a Sparx 3/8 ROH flat bottom V cut and he is usually the fastest kid on the ice wherever we play.
Perfection
The other review is totally wrong. The carbon does not rub off. They must have had the steel honed. Do not hone the steel! Use wood to take off the burrs!
Carbon coating comes off easy
Went to sharpen for the first time and where the steel touches the holder the carbon had come off. How is this blade going to stand up over a hockey season when the plastic holder takes the carbon coating off in a week?
