TRUE AX5 Composite Hockey Goalie Stick Review

Not worth it.

Purchased this for my son about a month and a half ago. A chunk of the toe broke off and now the foam core is exposed. He owns 3 other True sticks that were half the price and they are like tanks. Not this one. Might try our luck on a different brand.

Very light weight and balance

Very light weight. Great balance. Played 7 games and showing stress cracks in paddle. Son love this stick but looking like quality / longevity is going to be an issue.

Another great True goalie stick!

This is a replacement for our beloved 4.5 that is no longer available. My daughter is SUPER resistant to change, so when she came off the ice after using this stick I was happy to hear that she LOVED it. Weight and balance are spot on, and it's very lively when handling the puck.

1st time composite

Super light compared to a foam core, and the tacky grip placement above the paddle is perfect. not sure what color I got as it seems to reflect oddly from different angles. I think its Green but at times it could be blue or teal!

Poor quality but great balance and control

We bought this in September 2020. My son has played in 6 games due to the shutdown. The toe broke off the stick two weeks. Now I noticed on the main shaft it has a crack from a puck hitting it. The quality on this stick needs improvement. The balance of the stick is perfect. This helps with the controlling the puck. My son has had three True goalie sticks and all three have… read more had the same issue. This stick might be ok for a tall Peewee but not for a Bantam. Might need to step up to the AX9 but I can't see pulling the trigger if it breaks in 3 months of playing.

DOESN'T LAST - SAVE YOUR $

After just over a month of practice use, the whole seam at the end of the toe started splitting open more and more each week until the whole toe is now split open all the way around. The worst piece of goalie gear we have ever bought - super light stick but you need more than a month out of a stick that costs that much money. Back to our usual, well known brand of goalie stick… read more - have always outgrown the sticks and never had an issue with one even after two seasons of practices and games on the same stick. We don't normally do reviews but we just want to save others from losing that amount of money like we did since True only guarantees their sticks for a month...now we know why:(

Great Stick for a Young Goalie

This is a fantastic stick for my 10 year old son. Light enough for him to maneuver his blocker around easily yet still firm and strong enough to make stick saves.
