Great stick, expensive except during customer appreciation, blade is alright
I personally love the graphic for this stick. The clear blue coating near the middle of the shaft looks amazing especially in sunlight when training outside shooting pucks. The stick itself is also very good. The pop is crisp, the wrist shots and snap shots are on point. I typically use a P28 due to the lower lie on a bauer stick, but since true had the TC2.5, I went with that… read more and it is so much better than the P28. I can still have the consistent snap shots and wrist shots that I have with the lower lie stick. My backhands have improved slightly due to the TC2.5 having less of a curve then the P28. Not sure if it is completely the curve tho. I usually use a bauer 77 flex so I got a 75 flex True stick but the sticks actually run a bit shorter, like 1-2 inches shorter. So I cut it down less and the stick is a bit more flexible than I usually prefer. As a result, I can't take slap shots too well without the stick bending a lot and making it feel like I'm going to snap the twig on my next clapper. I don't take too many slap shots anyway so I don't mind too much but it does still stink being hesitant to take clappers. If I had the money, I'd try the 85 flex to find the one that fits me better. I have heard that Trues seem to feel more flexible than what they're rated for. The difference in flex is a minor complaint, its mostly because I'm used to bauer using 77 flex and I cuz it down to where it becomes about an 80-82. The blade of the twig is good, but not great. I like a stiff blade for shooting which the ax9 has. Coming from top of the line bauer twigs, the blade feel is definitely lacking. The blade is good, don't get me wrong, I'm just being very picky. It doesn't have the same feel as a bauer top line twig. Just to give an idea, my favorite bauer twigs were the original 1x and the original 1s, I loved the blades on those twigs and the true ax9 can't compare. It almost doesn't provide a dampened, soft feel when catching hard passes and kinda feels hollow and too stiff when stickhandling. Maybe its a result of the foam inside the blade or not having the resin stuff that bauer uses. This is my only major complaint. I bought the stick during the customer appreciation, the only reason I bought it. I usually never buy sticks full priced and even the $50 wasn't that much of an incentive. I bought twigs with a friend and we ended up going over the $500 mark which gave us a $75 discount per stick which is way more worth it. I can't account for durability. I've only used it for a month at the time of writing this. I usually stick with bauer twigs since I've used them since I was little and I know what I'm getting out of them. Was very hesitant to try true because of blade durability issues so we'll have to see if it lasts. I play club college hockey so competitive but not really that intense.
Good product
This was purchased by my son and he thinks it's a good stick for the price. He likes the weight and durability which explains why two of them were purchased.
TRUE AX9 = AWESOME
Great stick that more people should know about. Really great pop on wrist shots and snap shots thanks to its low kick-point. Appearance-wise, the white/navy/chrome looks really clean. Would recommend to any player looking for a lightning-quick release.
True AX9
So far so good, this stick is light and shoots hard but the 85 flex feels like a 75 compared to last years True sticks.
