Not bad but not great either.

My 55.5” head was too large for size small even with using the thinnest pads that come with the helmet. The small was supposed to be able to accommodate 56”but I recommend sizing up if your on the cusp. The MIPS idea was intriguing and I wondered how long that would last because the inner plastic was held on by what looked like rubber bands. I liked the look of the helmet and read more would have ordered a Medium if it was in stock. This seems to be a minimalist type of helmet because their padding was not very thick and I’m talking about the padding that you can’t take out/replace with their provided options. Instead of making the helmet adjustable they send different size pads to change out. I’d prefer being able to make adjustments. True mediums are out of stock so I went with a medium warrior helmet instead. It is miles ahead of True in terms of comfort. The padding is thicker. So, the True helmet is ok if you can find at discounted price but I’m not seeing the value at full price. True skates are worth every penny though. Game changer.

True helmets

My son likes it a lot and it has the Mip technology that ski helmets have.

Only helmet that doesn't hurt my son's head!

After trying numerous helmets from Warrior, Bauer, and CCM with all of them making my son's head hurt, we got this True helmet. It's the only one he hasn't complained about. My only complaint though is that the back removable pad, the velcro piece that is supposed to be affixed to the helmet (that holds the pad) keeps coming off.

Bauer is better

The fit was awful and impossible to find a cage for. But we found a Pure Hockey store for the return and the customer service was fantastic. We’ll make the drive again!

Modified helmet

Helmet loosened up after one game had to sew side pieces together and more to front piece added some one sided tape fits perfect now great helmet

Light and comfortable, just a little large.

Very light, very comfortable. Reminds me of my old Easton E700s. Even suffers the same issue too, where the sweat pads fall apart after about 1 week... other than that, I'd wear it all day every day. I did pull my sweat pads and sewed them together and it makes a big difference.

Almost perfect!

My son is on the border size of M/L. His head is exactly 59cm. I went with L. I had to sew two sets of pads together to achieve the correct fit. He argued at first but admitted I was right afterwards. Adding the bubble wasn’t as tricky as the reviews lead me to believe. My least favorite thing was the glue they use on the giant sticker on the back. It doesn’t peel off easy read more and I ended up covering most of it in the end. My son is trying it at a checking clinic today.

I love this helmet

I have had this helmet for a season now and the fit is great. The cage issue was fixed by using two small washers and then snipping part of the j clips. I use the fitlite titanium cage. Yes, the pads hold sweat so I just carry a towel but I did that before this helmet.

I like it

Read the mixed reviews very pleased w comfort and performance so far

Beware if you use a cage

Bought this helmet for the MIPS protection, but was very disappointed to find that most (no?) cages fit this helmet well. I was able to get a Bauer ReAkt Cage to kind of fit, but not without putting the J clips so high that they bent outward because they were up against the lip of the helmet. The finishing of the helmet from a basic aesthetics standpoint isn't great either. There read more is all kinds of excess glue residue visible on the helmet. Bottom line if you are paying $250 USD and over $300 CAD for a helmet, you expect top of the line everything - from protection to look and definitely should not have to drill additional screw holes to get a cage to fit like others have suggested. I ended up returning mine and went with a Bauer

Sweat sponge

I got this helmet a few weeks ago first game it was fine, had to make some adjustments with the inner foam pieces to get a better fit. Second game worked fine. Third game I was sweating like crazy and the foam inserts worked as a sponge with sweat and every time I adjusted the helmet the insert would let the sweat go and drench my face. Not sure what to do now. Return it. read more ???

Great Protection

Bought this helmet for my son as he has had 2 concussions in the past 3 years. The construction of the helmet is definitely at another level compared to others and the MIPS technology is great. Its a no brainer to protect of of the most important areas of your body! Gave 4 stars instead of 5 only due to True not offering a cage & it was somewhat difficult to get a Baur cage to fit. read more CCM cages were even harder.

Really like the fit.

Great fit and really nice to be able to switch out the pads on the inside. Definitely try it on before you buy had a large helmet before and went with the True Medium. Also the questions about shields i can confirm my bauer cage from my old helmet does not fit quite right so i will have to get a new one and will have to go to pure hockey to make sure i get the right fit.
