No ResultGreat, but tweaked too much
For reference, I am currently skating in FT1 skates size 8.5. A few weeks back I had my feet scanned and the results told me that I should be in a size 8 FT2. So I purchased the FT2 in size 8. I skated in them for the first time last night and while they felt comfortable and I loved the new holder and steel, the skates had far too much negative space in them for me. One of the things I loved so much about the FT1 was the heel lock and the reduction of negative space vs that of the Vapor line that I had been in previously. I knew that CCM made the heel lock a bit less aggressive in the FT2, but was unaware of any other fit changes. So basically, my FT1 8.5 fit snugger and have MUCH less negative space than my size 8 FT2 (with the exception of my toes being ever so SLIGHTLY closer to the front of the boot). I was very disappointed, to say the least. I did try them on in the store, but I didn't really notice until I got out on the ice. Unfortunately, due to all the extra room volume in the boot, the FT2 is not going to work for me.
One step forward, One step back
CCM's Jetspeed FT2 skates have been far more durable than the FT1. They are very comfortable and perform on the ice. The one mayor drawback for me is the increase in toe cap volume from the FT1. One of the things I really liked about the FT1 was the heel-lock and lack of negative space. In the FT2, the widened the heel-lock slightly (still locks in well), but they also added more volume to the toe cap and for me that is a real problem. The reason I left Vapor was that I had to use shims in the toe cap, with the FT1 I did not, but in my hastiness, I grabbed the FT2 and found there to be too much negative space in the front of the boot. A great skate overall, but too much negative space for me.
Awesome skates if you've got the coin
I splurged and got these skates over the summer. They are light, stiff, and fit snugly with no wobble. They are FAST. If you are looking to improve your speed as much as possible and have a good ultra-lightweight but still comfortable skate, start saving up. Just wish they weren't so much money, but it's OK I didn't mind eating just mac n cheese for a few weeks.
very small
I bought a medium after looking at the sizing chart, and I thought they had sent me a youth one instead. The last pair I bought were also mediums from Alkali, and they fit great, they were just worn out and I wanted a new pair. So I'll have to return and buy from a different brand, since I don't want to get burned again.
strongest holder and blade on market
holder has a truss designe for greater stability for more speed the blade has great glide plus it looks as good as it feels
Ok, but color bleeds onto holders
These look nice, but the color bleeds. I bought red ones and I noticed that my white holders have red marks on the ends. The worst is that this red doesn't wash off easily, permanently blemish in my new 1X skates. NOT Happy, not sure about other colors, but would avoid red for sure.
