These tongues are great, gives that old skoolsoft felt tongue feel. Works great on the ice in the skates ,I put a pair in my CCM U+12's. Be warned though that these tongues do take up more volume in the skates than thinner stock tongues, so if you have big wide feet you might have problems using these. I also had these put in before I baked my skates to make sure the extra volume of the tongue was accounted for. Just like the skates them selves, the tongues need a couple ice times to break in, but after that they are super comfy and look very nice.
Best Steel for the price!
I was a bit skeptical at first but I put these steels in my CCMU+12's and they are amazing! I normally get a 3/8 hollow and I couldn't believe how hard these cut into the ice commpaired the the stock ccm steels I used before. I had to chagne to a 1/2" hollow because the 3/8" felt too grabbby. I replaced the scalloped steels in my ccm skates which felt very soft and flexible when out of the holder and these are very stiff, which equated to more energy transfer to the ice. The only thing to be aware of is that you will have to get these steels profiled before using them. I tried just to have them sharpened and the profile is way off from a stock ccm steel. felt more biased to the back. But Step Steel does add extra steel all the way through the blade just for this reason, to allow people to use their prefered profile and still have the benefits of a taller steel. I will be buying these again when I need new steel.
