This is my second one

this is the second unit we've bought. The first one was eventually smashed by a hockey puck. This works well to motivate your kids to work on your shot, but placement of the device is tricky. The software/hardware is possibly more setup for baseball than hockey. It tends to read faster if you shoot towards it than off to the side -which I guess is natural, but results in everyone shooting at it to get the highest speed. With the old one, when on low batteries it would occasionally give you false (but very gratifying) 20-30% faster scores (Hey! I hit 105mph on my slapshot! Whoo!). Other irritations: the voice is too soft, there are two sensitivity modes "still and move" but they aren't described very well and don't see to work as expected. There can be a lengthy pause between shots while you wait for the device to reset as well, so if you are shooting pucks every 3-4 seconds, you will need to stretch it out sometimes as much as 8-10. For us, the best setup so far has been to set it up on a solid tripod (bought separately) behind the net. Some nets will slide back after awhile, so make sure it doesn't do that - also factor in net stretching out in back and make sure it can't hit the device. For the price, it's not bad overall.
