My son is on the border size of M/L. His head is exactly 59cm. I went with L. I had to sew two sets of pads together to achieve the correct fit. He argued at first but admitted I was right afterwards. Adding the bubble wasn’t as tricky as the reviews lead me to believe. My least favorite thing was the glue they use on the giant sticker on the back. It doesn’t peel off easy and I ended up covering most of it in the end. My son is trying it at a checking clinic today.
