My son purchased these pads and reports this is a big step up in protection. Movement was not hindered.
Protective chesty, good mobility, and great fit
protective for my league. I was getting bruised up with my old chesty. This one has good protection on the sides and the arms where I was getting most of my bruises. There is good movement in this one and still gives the protection I need for my league.
Less bulky
Moved from youth model to this. Big difference in protection but sacrifice in mobility with all brands. Went with the Vaughn over others as it seemed less bulky and easier movement than other brands. Good protection.
Best on the market.
Vaughn chest protectors are the best out there for anyone, but especially youth. They allow movement and protection all without looking like a completely stuffed jersey.
Comfort and Protection done right!
Buy it. This is the most comfortable chest protector I’ve ever owned. Took a few rockets straight to the gut last night and while I felt the puck, it didn’t hurt a bit.
Best intermediate chest protector on the market
My son has worn Vaughn for several years. This season he grew out of his V8 chest pad. We tried a different style Vaughn V9 from another retail outlet. It was stiff and not near as mobile. We also tried every other brand, CCM, Bauer, etc and finally in one last ditch effort stopped by Pure Hockey in Plano TX. This is their own independent Vaughn chest pad from the normal vaughn… read more line. This was incredibly mobile for my 12UAA goalie and has offered up great protection vs his V8. The only thing is, it does fit different. In the V8 model he was an intermediate XL. This chest fits much larger and the Large is actually a perfect fit for him. So don't think just because you were an XL in previous models, that this won't fit. Hope this helps anyone looking for a super protective high end unit that was manufactured specifically for Pure Hockey.

I have always worn Vaughn chest protectors, I originally purchased the warrior gt2 but returned it because it felt big, bulky, and stiff. I returned it and spent a little more money and bought the Vaughn v9 xfp. It is everything you would expect from Vaughn, just lighter, more protective, and more adjustable.
