Bauer RBE I Half Shield Review

Excellent protection for officials

I have used this shield on my Bauer 5100 for the last 5 years as an official and I can not count the times it has stopped the butt end of sticks and deflected errant pucks. I am now just replacing it after 5 years after a skate blade scratched the surface. I use "Sven Can See" on the inside of the visor as it does stick down more than other visors, thus it does tend to fog more… read more than some others, but I like the extra protection. It get lots of use as I officiate well over 100 games a year.

Fogs Easy

Wanted to let others know for me this shield fogs quickly. It's manageable, I just need a cloth to wipe between shifts. Price was right.

Great shield for the price

Bought this shield about a month ago and have played with it repeatedly. Other than adjusting it up/down in/out to find my personal preference I haven't needed to do anything to it. I haven't had any fogging issues and we had a wicked cold snap so it's been used in some tough circumstances. Great shield for the price.

Terrible visor...

Fogs up very quickly. Scratches easily. Very thin and not protective as other stronger variants. Just say no to cheap junk like this and spend more for something else.

Sturdy and Easy to Install

As I said in the title, it's sturdy and easy to put in place. My first day wearing it, I accidentally dropped in on concrete and didn't have so much as a scratch. It's also easy to put on and provides good protection all the way down to your mouth. Highly recommended.

Changed my game..

After wearing a cage for so long, going to this half-shield improved my game by a longshot. After comparing this shield with others, this seemed to offer the most coverage. It comes with all hardware (multiple screws, nuts, and spacers) to fit many helmets, and it fits my Large Reebok 11K perfectly. The only "flaw" would be the fogging while on the bench...but I'm sure that is a… read more fight that needs to be faught with every larger sized shield. Decent

Does what it's supposed to do: protect your face. Comes down low on your face and feels very sturdy. Extremely easy to install. Fogs up a lot. And by a lot, I mean any time you aren't moving around on the ice, so good luck getting a look at what's going on while your shift is done. Great visor if you want a little something more then a simple straight half visor. Offers a little bit more protection as it comes down lower on the face. Seems to take a beating fairly well too. Very easy to insall on your helmet.
