Great skate for 9 yr old playing rep hockey

These skates, with a firm boot, lasted 2 seasons playing 10U for a pretty decent player who was alternating between offense and defense. He has a wide foot and this was a great skate and he did not complain once about the fit. We are buying another pair of this model for the next stage.

Just the right fit.

I've been waiting for these skates to go on sale for over a year now. Hands down the best pair I've ever owned. After twice baking I skated for an hour with no pain in my feet, which after 23 years of mid level and cheap skates that usually takes me a month to break in till the pain goes away. Great Service by Pure Hockey

I love these but for me they were too tight in toe box. However. Pure Hckey took the retrun and promptly refunded me. I will buy skates from Pure Hockey again, once i decide on a size.

Lace bite

Really liked these skates when I first got them and had them baked and everything seemed good. After 2 games on them the front of my right ankle was so lace bitten I almost had to take them off. I'm buying some gel inserts to hopefully fix the issue but I was disappointed after spending the money on top end skates.

I was debating on the true customs, Bauer customs and the 1X. I am very happy with the 1X. They fit great without even heating them. Light weight and stiff. Great price!

Great skate, but

Pretty cool skate with a lot of technology, albeit technology that most people won't even notice. 90% of the people that purchase this skate would not be able to tell the performance difference between the 1x and X900 or x800 for that matter. Otherwise, the skate is comfortable and doesn't take any serious effort to get them tight so I feel connected to the skate, however, it doesn't make up for deficiencies in my skating skills. I am still a pretty average skater. :-) Honestly, I wasn't expecting a miracle, I simply wanted to buy the best skate available that felt good on my feet and the Vapor 1x did deliver in that respect. Now the downside. I am D level skater and I play in a men's beer league. I have had the skate for about a month with about 10 games. After one of my games I noticed a white mark on the instep of the boot and didn't think too much about, then after my next game, I noticed another. I am used to seeing puck marks or skate slashes on my skates, but the stark white blotches had me concerned. I brought the skates to Pure Hockey to see what was up. I was informed that it was the paint chipping off. Needless to say, I was surprised and disappointed. $950 for skates that the paint chips off when minimally impacted. If Zdeno Chara blasted one off my foot, I would not have been surprised, but weak shots from out of shape old men? All I got was a shrug and an "its only cosmetic" answer from Pure Hockey. Their response is true, with or without the paint chips I still can't transition skate without feeling like a rusted gate. :-) Long story short, the skate is nice. It isn't a great value. Most of the features won't be noticed even by above average skaters. I bought the most expensive skate out of desire not need. Before you consider purchasing for yourself or your budding young star, make sure you are ok paying an extra couple of hundred for features that probably won't matter but will look like a well-used skate in a few months.

Outstanding

These skates are billed as offering superior comfort, stability, fit and performance, but casual players like myself are for some reason discouraged from using these. If these are the best (and they are!) what features would you want to sacrifice by going down the scale? I didn't see a reason to compromise, pulled the trigger on the top model and am very happy I did. After 3 years… read more using another brand's boots, which felt like Mason jars on my feet, these were a revelation. On a first wear after baking, two and a half hours on ice caused no discomfort whatsoever. Extra 4mm of height on LS4 blades don't register - my old ones seem taller on side-by-side comparison. The support and locking in of the heal and entire foot are incredible. If the budget allows, I say get yourself measured by the Bauer computer and don't hesitate. Much recommended.

I bought these from one of Pure Hockeys stores. The guy that helped me was very insightful and directed me to the right skates. They are really exspencive but it is well worth the money.

Bauer 1X vs. Bauer Nexus 8000 vs. Bauer 1S

In contrast to the 1X I had a pair of the MX3 LE from Bauer. After skating on the MX3 LE skates during a game(1) I suffered a tremendous amount of pain in both my left and right heels and my Achilles' tendon. I thought maybe a baking would alleviate the issue, so I decided to get them baked per the manufacturers recommendation under a Bauer representatives assistance. After a 24… read more hour waiting period post baking, I went on the ice again alas the pain and discomfort persisted. Now the 1X Vapor from Bauer. The first time on the ice was incredible! I was able to pivot quicker, transition from forward to backward incredibly easier, required less energy on my part to react to play, but seems that the skates are very similar to the Bauer Nexus 8000. I am able to use my inside edge easier because of the 1 X's staggered design. These are the best skates I've ever owned I would recommend them to anyone who ( assuming they are serious hockey players) wants to improve his/her game. Amazing

I have 5 sons and each one of them plays AAA so they need a great skate. This is just the one. We all went and each of them got this skate and they look sick. I got my oldest son 2 pairs of these and put roller blades on one so he can train off the ice.

A symmetrical fit ... FINALLY YES

Finally someone realized that the inner ankle bone and the outyer ankle bone are no symmetrical (inline with each other. My inner malleolar bone is a full 1.25" forward of my outer, meaning that the inner bone NEVER sat in the ankle pocket and very close to the eyelet holes.
